Butterflies are not the first thing that comes to mind when thinking of Christmas decorations. However, their uncommonness makes them a interesting choice that can set your holiday decorations apart. A butterfly Christmas is unexpected and whimsical. Butterflies can be paired with your favorite ornaments, or used to entirely cover a tree. Miniature butterflies also work well for scrapbooking, making greeting cards, and craft embellishments.
Butterfly decorations from Bugs-n-Blooms come in several different sizes, and the smaller decorations can work well for decorating Christmas trees. The smallest sizes of butterfly decorations measure either 7” x 5”or 5” x 4” depending on the style. The only butterflies not available in these small sizes are the painted and Mikayla decorations.
Butterfly decorations come with an attached hanging hoop and fishing line, to make them easier to hang on walls. Depending on how you want to hang them, these hoops may work for attaching butterfly decorations to a Christmas tree. Alternately, the hoops are easy to remove so decorations can be wired on to the tree.
Mini butterfly decorations work well as accents on larger Christmas trees or as ornaments on mini trees being placed in small rooms and apartments. Crystal wire butterflies measure 3” x 3”and come with a fishing line and hoop for hanging. Glitter and beaded mini butterfly decorations measure 2” x 2” each and do not include a hanging hoop. All three types of mini butterfly decorations come in 9 different colors.
Even smaller butterflies, measuring 1” x 1”, can be purchased in an assorted 12 piece set. These tiny butterflies can be used in holiday craft projects, including DIY greeting cards and crafts for kids. They can also be used in scrapbook projects to commemorate holiday gatherings.
Adding butterfly curtain tiebacks to the window dressings is one way to connect tree decorations with the rest of the room. Butterfly tiebacks come in a variety of colors and styles, including a light holiday green and sparkling snow white. The tiebacks come in sets of two, and each is attached around the curtain with two pieces of ribbon or wire.
In a room already decorated with holiday butterflies, butterfly wall letters can be used to spell out the phrase, “A snowflake is winter’s butterfly” on the walls. These vinyl wall letters measure between 3” to 9” wide and 5” to 8” high, depending on the letter, and come in 7 different colors. These and other butterfly decorations make unique additions to your holiday décor, and nicely complement a Christmas theme room design.

Bug and flower decorations might not be the first thing that comes to mind when thinking of Christmas, but they can lend a nice touch to the season. Butterfly wall letters are a nice compliment to butterfly Christmas ornaments. Ladybugs can be a unique way to add winter red to holiday decorations. Vinyl decal letters come in several different styles can add interesting colors and designs to Christmas decorations. Wall stickers are also easy to apply and can be reused.
What to Write and Where
The first step in selecting wall letters is deciding what to write. The purpose for the wall letters and the room they will be used in help with selecting a style of wall letter. For holiday decorating, consider selecting a phrase that fits the holiday season. “Merry Christmas” is a simple phrase that looks nice spelled out on a wall near the Christmas tree, over a mantlepiece displaying a nativity scene, or as part of a home’s Christmas decorations. Other phrases that will work for this holiday include “Noel,” “Deck The Halls,” “Silent Night,” and lines from Christmas carols.
Wall Letter Styles
Once you know what you want to write with the wall letters, it is time to choose a sticker design that will work for holiday decorating. Vinyl wall letters from Bugs-N-Blooms come in seven different styles, with color variations available within each style. Sport-themed wall letters are shaped like soccer balls, basketballs, and baseballs that measure 5 1/2″ diameter, and 6” footballs. Butterfly, flower, ladybug, dragonfly, bumblebee and ballet slipper stickers are all lower-case letters. Letter size varies between 3” to 9” wide and 5” to 8” high, depending on letter. Colors include dark pink, dark purple, light purple, green, red, yellow, and brown. Not all styles are available in every color.
How To Apply Wall Letters
Putting up the wall letters is the final step after choosing where to hang the letters and selecting a style. To apply vinyl wall decals, first make sure that the wall is clean and dry. If the wall has been painted recently, wait at least 3 to 4 weeks for the pain to cure before applying wall stickers. Walls that are painted with a matte or flat color are best because glossy paints and textured walls can cause the stickers to peal.
Wipe the wall with a dry cloth to remove any dust or dirt. Once the wall is prepared, carefully peal off the stickers and affix them to the wall. The wall letters can be applied lightly at first so you can step back and see if they need to be repositioned. Once letters are where you want them, smooth them out gently and firmly to remove air bubbles. Decals can be removed and reapplied without damaging walls, but be careful not to get fingerprint oils or dust on the back of the sticker.

A fairy theme is a good fit for a wide variety of parties. Children’s birthdays, tea parties, and play-dates all fit well with a fairy theme, as do bridal and baby showers for adults. Fairy-tale and princess themes with pastel colors are perfect for a little girl’s party or a bridal shower. A woodland theme can be more versatile, allowing little girls to dress up as fairies and little boys to join the party as woodsmen or gnomes. It also makes a good choice as a baby shower theme.
Decorations for a fairy party will depend on the type of theme you choose. Pastel colors, bright pink, and lots of tulle can be a great first step when decorating for a fairy-tale theme. Pretty flower decorations and butterflies lend a nice touch, and can be purchased to match whatever color scheme you choose.
For a woodland fairy theme, greens and brows make a good addition to the color scheme. Nature decorations like dragonflies, ladybugs, and bumblebees seem right at home in a fairy-tale woodland setting. Bringing natural objects like fallen leaves and tree branches into the decorating ideas also contributes to building a woodland party setting.
For children’s parties, crafts can be used as part of the decorations, to make party favors, or to give the children a fun activity to do at the party. A few ideas include making glittery crowns out of lace and a fabric stiffener, building a fairy cottage from small cardboard boxes, and crafting tiny fairy dolls from artificial flowers and pipe cleaners.
Fairy party games are also a fun way to get kids involved in the party. One fairy game involves placing pieces of paper printed with tasks – such as “sing a fairy song” or “crab-walk across the floor” – inside a balloon. The little party goers must each catch a balloon, pop it, and then complete the task inside to be rewarded with costume fairy wings.
There are a variety of possibilities for fairy-theme food. Fairy themed cookie cutters can be used to make sugar cookies. Decorating these cookies before eating them can be a fun activity for children or adults to share. Fairy bread is a popular snack to serve at children’s parties, and is easily made by spreading butter or Nutella on white bread. The bread is then cut into triangles and pressed face-down into a dish of sprinkles, which stick to the spread.
Fairy themes are a great choice for a shower or children’s party. When planing a birthday party for a little girl or a shower for a bride-to-be, a fairy-tale theme makes a good choice. Woodland fairy themes work well for a variety of children’s parties, and can be used when planning a baby shower for the new mother who is expecting a little boy or girl.

Thanksgiving offers an opportunity each year to pause and express gratitude. It is a day to share with friends and family, a day that can be made even more special by just the right decorations. With the approach of Thanksgiving at the end of November, now is a good time to decorate for the harvest season and start planning table settings if you are hosting Thanksgiving at your home.
The first thing people see when they come to your house is the front door and entry way. You can give the entrance to your home a Thanksgiving look with a variety of outdoor decorations. Wreaths on the door are a nice touch, as are Indian corn, pumpkins, gourds, and autumn leaves arranged around the entry or on the pouch.
A fall wreath to hang on the door is something that can easily be made or purchased. Ideas for DIY fall wreaths come in a variety of styles. Grapevine wreaths decorated with ladybugs and autumn leaves, fabric wreaths with ruffles and flower decorations, and Styrofoam wreaths covered in ribbon and bumblebees are just a few of the many possibilities.
Once guests are inside your home, you can greet them with a cheerful Thanksgiving vignette on a hall table. This type of idea will also work on a mantle over the fireplace, on the top of a bookcase, or decorating a sideboard in the dining room.
Building a vignette is simple, and involves arranging objects into a pleasing still-life design. For a Thanksgiving vignette, there are many options. Miniature pumpkins, colored vases, “Give Thanks” signs, turkey decorations, a cornucopia, and candles are all good ideas for adding to the vignette decorations.
While decorating the entryway and other parts of your house, it can be a good time to think about table settings for Thanksgiving Day. Laying out a table setting can be as simple or elaborate as you like. Many hostesses bring out their best china for Thanksgiving and design an elegant table with a lovely centerpiece. Others prefer a more relaxed theme, and opt for harvest or nature-inspired designs in a variety of fall colors.
Thanksgiving is a wonderful time to fill your home with family, friends, good food, and fall decorations. When decorating your home for Thanksgiving, a fall-theme wreath paired with harvest decorations in the entry way is a great place to start. Inside, a Thanksgiving vignette adds a nice autumn touch to a hall table, mantle, or sideboard. On Thanksgiving Day, a themed table setting adds a final touch of style to an already memorable day.

With winter just around the corner, many brides are planning their winter wonderland weddings. Whites, greens and reds are the colors that dominate winter decorating, but that doesn’t mean those are the only colors to choose from when planning a winter wedding. Any color scheme that you love will work for this time of year, and here are a few ideas to get you started.
If you do want a red and green wedding, you can mix things up a little by adding ladybug decorations. A symbol of love and luck, ladybugs are a great addition to seasonal wedding design. Miniature ladybugs can be included in hair styles, bouquets, and floral arrangements at the wedding ceremony. Large and small ladybugs at the reception add an interesting touch of red to a December holiday wedding.
Red ladybugs also compliment a black-and-white wedding pallet. A black, white and red wedding is an elegant, classic theme that is perfect for winter. Romantic red really stands out when paired with crisp white and black clothing. Roses, amaryllis, ladybugs, and cranberries are easy ways to add a touch of red to the decorations.
For something truly different, chase the winter chill away with bright tropical colors and lively butterfly or dragonfly decorations. If you live in a warm area, like the Gulf Coast, an outdoor wedding is a possibility. Even in cooler areas, however, you don’t have to forgo warm colors or abandon a dream of having a beach theme wedding just because you’re getting married in winter.
Bright colors, tropical flowers in your bouquet, a tiki bar at the reception, and a reminder for guests to dress in summer clothes lets you bring a slice of warmth into your tropical winter wedding. Choosing summery foods and making sure the reception area is well heated also contribute to a tropical feel.
Though pastels are typically used for spring weddings, muted tones can also complement a winter wedding. Pale, shimmery flower decorations work well for a winter wonderland theme. Blue is a popular color for winter weddings, and pale blue flowers can be lovely paired with icicle and snowflake decorations. If you don’t like blue, pale pink is a romantic alternative that goes well with the white color of snow.
Choosing colors is one of the first steps when planning any wedding. For winter weddings, red and green are traditional colors that can be enhanced with ladybug decorations. Pretty pastels, such as light blue and petal pink flowers, are another good choice that goes well with wintry white. For a bold break with winter wedding tradition, a tropical theme with butterflies and dragonflies can be the perfect choice.

Historically, tea parties have been time for chatting and snacking with friends, and you can continue that tradition by hosing a tea party this fall. A cozy tea party is a great way to unwind and catch-up with friends before Thanksgiving preparations and Holiday Shopping takes over your time.
A tea party can be a simple get-together, or an elaborate party with formal tea settings and proper tea etiquette. However you choose to plan your tea party, it it sure to be an enjoyable gathering. This quick guide to decorations, teas, and menu planning will give you a head-start in planning a successful fall-theme tea party.
Ideas abound for fall party decorations. There are several different ways to approach a fall-theme party. You can opt for a harvest theme with miniature pumpkins, gourds, Indian corn, apples, and cranberries as decorations. A pre-Thanksgiving theme that adds cornucopias, turkeys, Native American and pilgrim decorations to the harvest theme is another possibility. Autumn leaves with an outdoor or nature theme are also a good choice for a fall tea party.
All these themes can be augmented with insect decorations from Bugs-n-Blooms. Miniature ladybugs and bumblebees can be perched on fruit and vegetable decorations to add a spot of bright yellow or red color. Ladybugs, as a symbol of good luck, are particularly appropriate to a Thanksgiving theme. Ladybugs, bumblebees, and flower decorations also work well with an autumn nature theme.
This time of year, pumpkin and other holiday teas are easy to locate. Adagio Teas has a pumpkin spice blend that can be purchased loose leaf or in tea bags. If you want to pick up the tea in a store instead of ordering it online, Celestial teas offers a Sweet Harvest Pumpkin, as well as tea blends like Cinnamon Apple Spice, that fit well with a fall theme.
TeaLaden recommends their Genmaicha blend or vanilla flavored Rooibos for an autumn tea party. The Genmaicha is a green tea with rice that TeaLaden describes as having a “toasty flavor.” The vanilla Rooibos, called “Bourbon Street,” is a South African tea with calendula and almond. It is described as having a “very rich almost dessert like” taste.
An autumn tea party allows plenty of options when planning the menu. For a main course, turkey and cranberry sandwiches, corn chowder, and apple chicken salad are just a few of the fall-theme foods to choose from. Pumpkin bread, scones, and muffins can be served with the tea and meal. For desserts, mini pumpkin pies, pecan tarts, and caramel apples are good starting places.
As the summer turns into fall, consider hosting an autumn-theme tea party. Fall decorations with bumblebees and ladybugs set the stage for a cozy or elegant tea party. Pair teas such as pumpkin spice and a Rooibos with seasonal foods, and you’ll have the perfect tea party for fall.

Whether you are a professional florist or an amateur flower arranger who likes to brighten the home with flowers, nylon insect decorations are a lovely addition to a floral design. Adding miniature decorations to a floral arrangement is very simple, yet it adds so much to the design. The colorful, glittery decorations from Bugs-n-Blooms are a perfect addition to congratulations arrangement for new parents, Happy Birthday designs, and every-day decorating.
Butterflies in Traditional Designs
Butterfly decorations are easy to incorporate into traditional floral arrangements. In most designs, butterflies can be wired and placed as if they were flowers. For basket designs, butterflies can be wired to the basket handle as well as incorporated into the flower design. Mini butterflies also make a nice addition to corsages and wedding bouquets.
When adding insect decorations to flower arrangements, butterflies are not the only option. You could also use dragonflies, ladybugs, or bumblebees. Depending on the style of flower arrangement, one of these other types of decoration could work better than butterflies. For example, ladybugs are a symbol of luck and love, and compliment romantic or wedding arrangements. Bumblebees are a bright cheerful decoration that work well in designs for a new baby boy or girl.
Adding Bugs to Floral Design
To create the illusion that the butterfly is hovering above the flower design, attach the butterfly to a length of wire. The wire should be thin enough to not be easily seen, but sturdy enough to stay where it is put. When you place this wired butterfly in the flower arrangement, the butterfly will seem to be hovering at the end of the wire.
Another way to use butterflies and other bug decorations in a floral design is to cut twigs from a bush or tree. Trim most of the leaves off, and wire the butterflies, dragonflies, ladybugs, or bumblebees onto the wood so it looks as if they are perched on the bark and leaves. These twigs have a nice effect when placed together in a vase or used as part of another arrangement.
Whimsical Flower Arrangements
Nylon insect decorations also work well if, instead of a traditional flower arrangement, you would rather create a mini forest or place flowers in unusual containers like a bird cage. Unusual flower arrangements are uniquely suited to including jeweled butterflies, bugs, and artificial flowers. A miniature forest or fairy garden can easily be made by starting with imitation bonsai bushes or branches from small-leaved bushes, if you want a fresh floral design. Mini nylon flowers work well placed on the miniature forest floor.
Mini bug decorations add interesting focal points to traditional florist designs and also complement more whimsical designs such as a miniature forest. With so many design possibilities, butterflies, flowers, and other nylon decorations make a great addition to your collection of floral arranging supplies.

If you’re throwing a baby shower for an expectant mother in the fall, one of the simplest decorating options is to use the autumn season for inspiration. A fall themed baby shower works equally well for a boy or girl, and with pretty ladybug and bumblebee decorations you can add a bright, cheerful note to the party.
Red ladybugs and bright yellow bumblebees are the perfect addition to a fall theme party. If the new baby is a girl, a fall theme with ladybugs make the perfect choice to celebrate the arrival of a new little lady. Bumblebees are great addition to the party planned for a little boy. These autumn insect themes can be as elaborate or simple as you like, with the theme carried through invitations, the color-scheme for decorations, seasonal foods, and party games.
For Fall Baby Showers
There are many ways to make a fall-themed baby shower splendid, starting with themed invitations. From there, you can move to using fall colors like reds, oranges, and yellows for the table settings. Pumpkins, bouquets of chrysanthemums, or assortments of fall fruits such as cranberries all make wonderful centerpieces and decorations.
For the food, anything with a fall theme works well. Turkey dishes, cranberry scones and muffins, autumn pies, caramel apples, and pumpkin desserts are good place to start. Apple cider is a good beverage choice for a fall theme baby shower.
Ladybug Girl Theme
With fall as the basic theme, ladybugs can be added in small doses or made the main focus of the decorations. For example, a fall-theme centerpiece can be enhanced by the addition of a mini ladybug, or larger ladybug decorations can replace pumpkins and flowers as centerpieces.
A ladybug party can also include decorated foods, ladybug theme favors, and gifts for the nursery like a ladybug mobile or a cute little ladybug costume for the baby girl to wear for pictures or a dress-up costume when she’s a little older.
Bumblebee Boys Theme
One of the nice things about using a fall theme for a baby boy’s shower is that it lets you get away from the stereotypical blue into earthy autumn colors. To brighten things up, bumblebee decorations can easily be added to flower arrangements, napkin decorations, walls and entryways, and table decorations. For bee-themed gifts, curtain tiebacks and mobiles, make lovely gifts for a nursery that will also provide a lasting reminder of the bumblebee baby shower.
For baby showers in the fall, ladybugs and bumblebees are a great way to add color and variety to a basic autumn theme. Whether the baby is a boy, a girl, or you don’t know yet, ladybugs and bumblebees will complement the decorating theme and help make the party a memorable success.

Butterfly Halloween Costumes:
With Halloween only about a month and a half away, now is a good time to start planning trick-or-treat costumes for children. From princess, to super-heroine, to cute animal, there are many options when choosing a costume for a little girl. This Halloween, why not consider a butterfly costume from Bugs-n-Blooms?
All Bugs-n-Blooms costumes are made with high-quality materials and designed to be comfortable and long lasting. The tutu skirts fit children who wear sizes 2T to 10/12. The waist is elastic, and stretches 17″ – 36″ in circumference with a 14″ length. Toddlers, girls, and youth can all enjoy dressing up as butterfly or a fairy princess in these tulle skirts.
The skirts are designed to coordinate with wands, headbands, and wings. These shirts can be hand washed or spot cleaned, and work well for parties and every-day dress up. The skirts come in a variety of colors and styles, including black and yellow bumblebee skirts and skirts with tiny butterfly decorations.
The butterfly wings from Bugs-n-Blooms are made from nylon fabric over a soft, bendable wire frame. All have soft, elastic arm straps and will fit toddlers, girls, and youth who can wear the tutu skirts, as well as some teens and adults.
These wings come in several different styles and colors. Measurements vary depending on the styles. Specific sizes include 14″ wide by 11″ high, 15″ wide by 12″ high, 17″ wide by 16″ high, 20″ wide by 16″ high, and 24″ wide by 17″ high. Butterfly wings also work well as part of a fairy costume. Ladybug wings and bumblebee wings are available as well.
Wands are a great addition to butterfly of fairy costumes for little girls. Bugs-n-Blooms wands are designed to match our costume wings and tutu skirts. They come in six styles: multi-layer butterfly wands, shimmer butterfly wands, sequined butterfly wands, marabou butterfly wands, ladybug wands, and bumblebee wands. Butterfly wands have a butterfly at the end which measures 5″ wide x 4″high. All wands have a 12″ long handle.
No little girls costume is complete without the proper hair accessories. Flower headbands are one option, and work particularly well for toddlers and young girls. For older children with enough hair to style, a woodland fairy lace braid is a good complement to a fairy or butterfly costume. Other options are to wear mini flower or butterfly decorations in any hair design.
Halloween butterfly costumes from Bugs-n-Blooms are a great way to dress up for trick-or-treating or a Halloween party. Since these costumes are designed to be long-lasting and fit a variety of sizes, they have the potential to be used for years of dress-up play after being worn as the perfect Halloween costume.
